Arnold Transit Boat will be the host for a display on the Commercial fishing history in the Straits Region and The Mackinac Bridge Authority will display and present information on the history of the bridge.
Tentative schedule of events, beginning at 4:00 p.m. include:
• Sampling of area fish delicacies
• Beer & wine tent
• Dunk tank
• Bounce house
• Live trout fishing pond
• Gyotaku t-shirt booth. Make and take home your own one-of-a-kind t-shirt!
• Artisan booth
• Live music from 6:30-9:30 p.m.
• Exhibits on board an Arnold Line Boat, which will be docked at the marina.

History On The Bay

Genealogy Conference-Fort de Buade Museum

Free programs at both the Fort de Buade Museum and the Museum of Ojibwa Culture during the day.

Book signing-a slew of local authors will set up at the Great Waters Center (4 N. State) to sign and discuss their books. 2-5 p.m. Refreshments served

A Historic Walking Tour on the Bay with Jim Couling 7:00 p.m.

A documentary on Ancient Straits History with Captain Luke Clyburn and the Sea Cadets featuring "Drowned Rivers". He will announce their latest underfround discovery. Location: Great Waters Center. 8:30 p.m. to 10:00 ish.

A Rendezvous at the Straits French Voyager Reenactment and Powwow, a family event celebrating the history of the St. Ignace area, will take place Saturday, August 29, and Sunday the 30th, 2009, at the Father Marquette Memorial Park in St. Ignace. Admission is $3 for adults and $2 for elders and students. There will be no charge for children younger than 12. This family event is to be alcohol and drug free.


Sponsored by the St. Ignace Special Events Committee, the St. Ignace Chamber of Commerce, the St. Ignace Visitors Bureau, Michilimackinac Historical Society and The Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians.

Join thousands of walkers and make the five-mile trek across the Mighty Mackinac Bridge! Walkers can start up until 11:00 a.m.
The annual trek across the 5-mile long Mackinac Bridge occurs on Labor Day, the only day of the year pedestrians are allowed on the bridge. Walkers begin in St. Ignace at the north end of the Bridge and walk south. The walk is one-way, and bus transportation is available to return you to St. Ignace until 2:30 p.m.
